Common questions

Questions about our services

What makes Fountain Health different from a traditional medical or mental health practice?

Fountain brings medical and mental health care together within one coordinated practice. Our team spans psychiatry, psychology, internal medicine, hormonal and metabolic health, sleep, longevity medicine, nutrition and fitness, IV ketamine, diagnostics, and preventive care. Rather than treating each concern in isolation, Fountain looks at how symptoms, biology, medications, behavior, and mental health may interact, then brings the appropriate clinicians around the same patient.

Why does Fountain look at both mental and physical health?

Symptoms such as low mood, anxiety, fatigue, brain fog, poor sleep, weight changes, or low libido can be influenced by more than one part of your health. Fountain looks at the full clinical picture, including psychiatric, medical, hormonal, metabolic, sleep, nutritional, medication-related, and lifestyle factors when relevant. The goal is not to assume every symptom has a physical cause, but to avoid treating one part of the picture while missing another. Fountain uses measurement to guide care, track progress, and help determine what is actually making a difference for each patient.

How do I know which Fountain service or specialist I should start with?

You do not need to determine that on your own. Symptoms such as fatigue, brain fog, low mood, poor sleep, weight changes, low libido, or difficulty concentrating can overlap across several areas of health. We start by understanding what you are experiencing, your medical and psychiatric history, current treatments, and your goals. From there, we can help determine which clinician, evaluation, or service is the most appropriate place to begin.

What services does Fountain Health offer in New York City?

Fountain provides psychiatry and medication management, therapy and psychology, weight and metabolic medicine, hormonal and endocrine care, longevity medicine, sleep care, physician-led IV ketamine, nutrition and fitness, primary and internal medicine, cancer risk and prevention, advanced diagnostics and biomarker testing, clinician-prescribed treatments, and performance-focused care. Services are coordinated across the Fountain team when a patient would benefit from more than one area of expertise.

How does Fountain personalize treatment?

Treatment begins with the patient, not a predetermined protocol. Your clinician considers your symptoms, medical and psychiatric history, medications, lifestyle, goals, and previous treatment response. Depending on the clinical question, your care may also incorporate laboratory testing, body composition, cognitive assessment, validated symptom measures, or other diagnostics. Your plan can then be adjusted over time based on how you are actually responding.

Can I see more than one Fountain specialist?

Yes. This is a core part of Fountain's model. A patient may work with more than one clinician when different areas of health are connected. For example, psychiatric care may be coordinated with sleep, hormonal or metabolic evaluation, while weight-management treatment may incorporate nutrition, strength training, and medical monitoring. Your clinicians share the relevant clinical picture so care does not become a collection of disconnected recommendations.

Does Fountain offer both in-person and virtual care?

Yes. Fountain has a medical practice in New York City and also provides telehealth for eligible patients in states where our clinicians are licensed. Services that require or benefit from in-person care are provided through our NYC practice, while many consultations, follow-up visits, medication-management appointments, and other treatments can be managed virtually when clinically appropriate.

Can I keep working with my current clinician?

Yes. Fountain is designed to complement existing care, not replace it. Many patients continue working with their current therapist, psychiatrist, primary care physician, or other specialist while Fountain addresses a specific medical, psychiatric, or multidisciplinary need. With your permission, our clinicians can coordinate with your existing care team so recommendations are aligned and you are not left managing disconnected treatment plans on your own.
